Freewarefiles.com offers a lot of...freeware....files :/ Loads of files are on offer including virus checkers, internet browsers, chat software, ftp programmes etc. Basically, lots of stuff that webmasters are likely to need....and also some other stuff they aren't likely to need...like games....but should download anyway ;).

Opera is a reasonably popular web browser, so it would be a good idea to download this browser to ensure that your site works on it without fault. Tucows are a popular website that provide many programmes which can be downloaded as shareware or have free trials. Built into the site is an easy to use search function which will help you find what you are looking for. Alternatively you can just browse through the different catagories and find a programme that way. This site is very useful for webdesigners as there are plenty of programmes to help with designing/maintaining your site. Adobe.com lets you download free software or trials of a variety of their products. The page I have linked to here is for Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you will find very useful for a lot of todays software. Many things you buy now, don't come with a paper manual, instead the manual is put on CD in Adobe Acrobat. This programme allows you to read them. Very useful..
